What is the maximum daily personal noise exposure limit (wearing ear protectors)?
In a business setting, it is the law for employers to provide hearing protection and hearing protection zones at 85 dB(A) during a daily or weekly average exposure. Employers must assess the risk to workers' health and provide them with information and training if the noise reaches 80 dB(A). Employers must not expose workers to 87 dB(A) without hearing protection.
How do ear defenders work?
Ear defenders' outer covering or the cup is a hard thermoplastic, and within the cup is an acoustic foam. This foam increases air resistance, absorbs sound waves and reduces the amplitude of the waves that enter the ear. The cushioned edge around the cups works similarly and offers a close fit around the ear.
What is the best material for ear defenders?
You must see if they contain acoustic foam to absorb sound waves for industrial noise-cancelling ear defenders. The outer part of industrial strength ear defenders is usually hard thermoplastic or metal to last in harsh environments.
