What is filler paint?
Filler paint is a thicker, roll-on undercoat base that you can use to prep your walls before using emulsion paint. Cover imperfect, uneven surfaces or dark spots before painting with filler paint and wall crack filler.
Do you have to prime the wall filler before painting?
Yes, always use a primer coat on walls where you have applied filler because you don't want any paint layers to absorb more quickly into some areas than others causing an uneven colour. Apply a layer of emulsion thinned with 10-20% clean water or a primer before your emulsion colour. Although most of our wall fillers require little to no sanding, ensure the filled hole is as smooth as possible before painting.
How long does filler take to dry?
Our quick-dry drywall filler takes as little as 30 minutes to dry before you can paint over it. However, you must leave powder fillers, filler paint and mixed plaster substitute filler for 2 hours before sanding and 24 hours before painting. Always read the instructions on the tub before starting a project, and don't expose the filler to rain while drying or use it in an area frequently immersed in water.
